One of my favorite parts of being a style coach is witnessing that moment when a client’s entire energy shifts—when they realize their wardrobe can truly support their life, not just take up space in their closet.
Today, I want to share what you can expect during a 90-minute style coaching session with me—and how I approach styling for people of all identities, body types, and ways of moving through the world.
Step 1: Understanding You
Every session begins with one central goal: to understand you as a whole person.
I’ll ask a lot of questions—some you might expect, some that may surprise you—because style coaching isn’t just about picking flattering colors or keeping up with trends. It’s about understanding how you live, how you want to feel, and how you want to be seen.
We might explore:
- What’s most stressful about getting dressed right now
- How you feel in your clothes on an average day
- What you want your style to communicate—professionally, socially, or personally
- Any sensory needs, accessibility requirements, or comfort priorities
- How your gender expression or identity shows up in your style choices
My goal is to understand your relationship with your clothes—past, present, and future—so we can create a wardrobe that’s functional, beautiful, and deeply reflective of you.
Step 2: Hands-On Styling
Once we’ve established your needs and goals, we move into the practical, creative part of styling—often starting with your own closet.
As we work, I offer tailored feedback on:
- Fit: Does the garment work with your proportions, mobility needs, and natural lines?
- Function: Can you comfortably do what your day requires—whether that’s bending down to talk to kids, moving freely in a wheelchair, filming content, or attending a meeting?
- Fabric: Is it breathable, sensory-friendly, durable, and comfortable against your skin?
- Color: Does it brighten you, support your mood, and express your personality?
If you’re neurodivergent or have specific sensory sensitivities, I’ll help you find fabrics and silhouettes that feel good to wear all day. If you’re queer, gender-nonconforming, or exploring gender expression, we can play with shapes, layers, and styling techniques that affirm your identity while still meeting your lifestyle needs. If your style leans alternative or unconventional, we’ll build outfits that honor your aesthetic while making them adaptable to different settings.
We’ll also create outfit formulas—repeatable combinations you can turn to when you’re short on time, energy, or decision-making bandwidth.
Step 3: The Styling Report & Roadmap
Your session doesn’t end when I leave.
Every client receives a personalized styling report and mood board with:
- A summary of your style goals and identity markers
- Color palette recommendations
- Silhouette and fit guidance
- Key outfit formulas
- Action steps for building on our work
This isn’t just a “recap.” It’s a living style roadmap that supports you long after our session, making it easier to shop, edit, and create outfits with confidence.
The Heart of My Style Coaching
For me, personal style is never about “dressing up.” It’s about showing up—as your truest self—in a way that feels aligned, comfortable, and expressive.
Whether you’re a busy parent who needs easy, flattering outfits… a neurodivergent creative who’s tired of sensory discomfort… a queer or gender-nonconforming professional seeking clothing that feels affirming… or someone whose style has always lived outside the mainstream… your wardrobe can be a powerful tool for self-expression and self-acceptance.
If you’re ready to reconnect with your style—or build one that finally works for your real life—I’d love to help. I offer thoughtful, sustainable, and highly personalized style coaching and custom design services, both in Austin and virtually.
